Bulldogs Fall to Marlies on Military Appreciation Night

HAMILTON, ONT —  On Military Appreciation Night at FirstOntario Centre, the Hamilton Bulldogs did not come out on top as they would of hoped too, as the Toronto Marlies defeated the ‘Dogs 3-1.

GAME RUNDOWN 

The first period concluded with the Hamilton Bulldogs on the power-play, but both teams left the ice with a tie game after a quick, entertaining first period.

Both the Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies had multiple chances to score the games first goal, but they were denied by two goaltenders. Antoine Bibeau for the Marlies and Mike Condon between the pipes for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs had some quality chances on their two power-plays,  but could not convert.

Shifting our attention to the Marlies, they opened the period on a good note. They were all over the ‘Dogs, and pounced on a bunch of loose pucks in front of Condon.

After forty minutes of play, the Bulldogs and Marlies remained scoreless. And that’s odd.

Like the first period, the Bulldogs were handed a handful of power-plays, but they could not convert as Bibeau and the Marlies penalty-kill cleared the puck.

Five minutes into the third period we witnessed the game’s first goal. And it came from the Home team.

Sven Andrighetto picked up the puck near the blue line, walked in and wristed it by Bibeau on the blocker side.

With about 10 minutes left in the period, the Marlies finally got on the board as Connor Brown deflected a shot high past Condon to tie the game.

During a four-on-four sequence with about five minutes to go, Toronto took their first lead of the game after Kozun tucked in the loose puck to the glove side of Condon.

And, the Marlies extended their lead with an empty net goal coming from Troy Bodie from centre ice.

The Bulldogs lost tonight’s contest by a score of 3-1.
