MONTREAL, QC.- The day following a 4-3 shootout loss to the Toronto Marlies came with one bright spot for the Montreal Canadiens’ farm club in that David Desharnais took home Player of the Week honours in the AHL.  In addition to scoring five points in the Christmas-shortened week that saw the Hamilton Bulldogs play two games, a win and a loss, he now also holds the lead in points (10-31-41 in 33 GP) league-wide.

The Bulldogs’ #51 scored two shorthanded goals in a 5-0 win against the Houston Aeros on Tuesday, becoming the first player to accomplish such a feat in the AHL in the last two seasons.

Other Bulldogs worthy of praise this week include  Dustin Boyd, who in 5 games since being sent down to Hamilton has recorded 6 goals, fitting in among the leaders in shots on goal in just about every game (21 total).  Ben Maxwell has notched at least one point in each of his last five games, while rookie blueliner Brendon Nash is +4 over his last stretch of 3 and Curtis Sanford has made 57 out of 60 possible saves in his most recent action, good for third place on the overall goaltenders’ leaderboard behind Jake Allen and Martin Jones.

The Bulldogs, who continue to be tops in the North Division standings with a record of 19-9-1-4, next play on Tuesday night against the Chicago Wolves.  As always, fans can tune into the action on 820 CHAM and  AHL Live.   The puck drops at 7 p.m. EST.
