ST JOHN’S, NL. — This week, the St. John’s IceCaps will face face the Albany Devils for a pair on the 24th and 25th.

St. John’s IceCaps
  • The IceCaps came up short in their four games last week, only taking away one win. Despite their struggles, the ‘Caps remain at fourth in the North division and 19th in the league overall. With the home team advantage this week, as well as the team’s strong power-play, the IceCaps may be able to use this to their advantage and defeat the second division leaders.
Players to Watch
  • Zach Redmond – Redmond has played 12 games with the IceCaps accumulating a total of eight points. His efforts in the IceCaps win against the division leaders on the 18th earned him the third star of the game.
  • Charles Hudon – Hudon has remained strong all season and continues to be one of the top players on the team with 32 points in 34 games played.

Forward David Broll has been signed to a one year AHL contract extension for 2017-2018.

Albany Devils
The Albany Devils (30-22-1-1) have remained strong over the last couple of months, continuing to hold their spot at second in the North division. The Devils and the IceCaps have faced each other in five previous games this season, resulting in four wins for the Devils and one for the ‘Caps.
Players to Watch
  • Andrew MacWilliam – MacWilliam is the first defenseman leader in the league for major penalties with a total of 7, and has the most penalty minutes on the team with 81 minutes. 
  • Ben Sexton – Sexton has the most goals scored on the team, with 19 so far this season.
Notes Goaltenders
The Devils won their first shutout of the season against the Penguins on the 17th, with a score of 4-0.
