Game Report

It took just 36 seconds for the IceCaps to get on the board in their third game in three nights. Sven Andrighetto opened the scoring with assists from Michael McCarron and Joel Hanley. In the next minute and a half, two more goals were scored, one from each side.

The IceCaps managed to keep up their foot on the offensive gas pedal this time, scoring five total goals, while goaltender Charlie Lindgren held the Wolf Pack to just two.  Special teams were in full effect again, with two power play goals being scored and one short-handed tally by Bobby Farnham.

Pretty glowing review, despite the penalty killers having to be on ice for a large portion of the game.  St. John’s had a revolving door on their penalty box door, with ten infractions being served.  Adding to that difficulty, the PK unit had to kill off 5-on-3 advantages four times – which they did successfully.

Charles Hudon and Nikita Scherbak found themselves bumped down to the fourth line for this game.  Hudon answered the demotion with a goal and an assist on the night, and Scherbak assisted on the empty-netter to end the game.  McCarron had two assists on the night, his first game back after serving his suspension.

The IceCaps now head back to Newfoundland to rest up and get ready for their home opener Friday night when they welcome the Rochester Amerks to Mile One Centre.
