Game Report

The Belleville Senators got back in action after three days off when they visited the Binghamton Devils on Friday night. Coming off a tough loss at the hands of the Utica Comets, the Senators were looking to bounce back.

But they did not get off to the best of starts. Belleville did not play well in the opening frame, only managing four shots on goal in the period and taking some bad penalties. Those penalties cost them as the Devils scored a pair of power play goals. The first was a beautiful wrist shot from Christoph Bertschy to open the scoring. Later it was Mario Lucia squeezing a backhander past Chris Driedger to make it 2-0. After 20, the Senators trailed by two.

The Senators got on the board just over four minutes into the second period, courtesy of Daniel Ciampini, cutting the Devils lead in half but Binghamton got it back quickly. Lucia scored his second of the night just less than five minutes after Ciampini got Belleville on the board and Bracken Kearns scored the Devils third power play goal of the game later in the frame to make it 4-1. At the end of two, Binghamton led by three.

The third period was mostly uneventful but it was still all Binghamton. They added a fifth goal courtesy of Kevin Rooney to put the game even further out of reach. Belleville dropped this one 5-1.

Belleville was thoroughly dominated in this one. They allowed 53 shots on goal and it certainly showed on the scoreboard. The Senators get right back to work tomorrow night when they return home to host the Laval Rocket.
