Game Report

The day had finally arrived and Rocket fans packed Place Bell in Laval to watch their new hometown team drop the puck on their inaugural season.  The crowd was energetic, loud, and went wild for their team.

On the ice, players seemed to feed off that energy and the Rocket took it to the visiting Belleville Senators every step of the way.  Charlie Lindgren stood tall in the crease, stopping every puck that came his way and consistently being correctly positioned to make highlight-reel saves.

The top line of Chris Terry, Michael McCarron, and Nikita Scherbak showed their renewed chemistry with constant pressure, slick zone entries, and tape-to-tape passing.

Daniel Audette earned the honor of potting the first regular season goal in Place Bell, quickly followed by a beautiful feed from Scherbak cross ice to McCarron who put the puck directly into the net behind Danny Taylor.

Jeremy Gregoire resumed his gritty style of play by blocking shots, finishing checks and even dropping the gloves with Patrick Sieloff.

A revolving door soon opened to the Rocket penalty box, but thanks to Lindgren’s strong play and the inability of the Belleville power play to produce any dangerous shots, Laval was able to keep the Senators off the board.  With an empty-netter by Nick Deslauriers, the home team came out victorious in the shutout.

For the fourth consecutive game (both pre-season and regular season), these two teams meet once again on Saturday night for the second half of this back-to-back series.
