The Sens were still searching for the elusive first victory of the season heading into the game. The first period got off to a rather familiar start for the Senators. Just over two minutes into the game, Gabriel Gagne took a slashing penalty. Less than a minute into the Gagne penalty, Christian Jaros joined him in the penalty box to give the Bears an extended five-on-three man advantage. It was Chandler Stephenson potting the rebound off a Lucas Johansen shot to give Hershey the early lead. But the Senators answered back just before the period expired. It was an Ethan Werek shot that took a strange bounce and fooled Parker Milner to tie the game 1-1. That was the score as the teams headed to the dressing rooms. The second period was a little more open. The teams exchanged chances and it showed on the scoreboard. First it was Werek deflecting home a Nick Paul wrister for his second of the night. Less than a minute later Chris Bourque fired a one-timer off a faceoff past Danny Taylor to tie the game back up. But the Senators struck right back when Gagne beat Milner over the glove to restore the Sens lead. The rest of the frame belonged to the goaltenders. Taylor and Milner matched each other save for save. Taylor made a huge pad save to stone Travis Boyd and keep Belleville in the lead. Later in the frame Milner let out a huge rebound straight to Filip Chlapik who had the whole net to shoot at but somehow Milner got it with the glove to keep Hershey within one. At the end of 40 minutes, Belleville led Hershey 3-2. The final period of regulation got off to a great start for the Senators. 46 seconds into the frame, Jack Rodewald beat Milner to double the Belleville lead to 4-2. Though the Bears gave their best effort to get back in the game, Taylor was equal to the task, making seven saves in the period, including stoning John Albert to keep the score 4-2. Chris DiDomenico added an empty-netter to seal the Belleville Senators historic first victory in franchise history. Belleville picked up their first win on the season, beating Hershey 5-2.
