CANADIENS RECALL BOWMAN FROM BULLDOGS, ASSIGN ELLIS TO NAILERS
Bowman has recorded six points in 11 games with Hamilton this season

MONTREAL, QUE. – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have recalled forward Drayson Bowman from the Bulldogs and have also assigned defenceman Morgan Ellis to the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.
In 11 games with Hamilton this season, Bowman has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) and five penalty minutes. The 25-year-old spent the 2013-14 season with the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes. In 70 regular season games with Carolina, the 6-0, 195-pound forward recorded 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 16 penalty minutes. In 176 career NHL regular season games with the Hurricanes, the Grand Rapids, Mich. native has recorded 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) and 53 penalty minutes. In 197 career American Hockey League regular season games with the Bulldogs, Charlotte Checkers and Albany River Rats, he has recorded 116 points (58 goals, 58 assists) and 153 penalty minutes. Bowman was originally selected by the Hurricanes in the third round (72nd overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The Canadiens signed him to a one-year contract on Oct. 2, 2014.
In two games with Hamilton this season, Ellis has recorded seven penalty minutes. The 22-year-old spent last season with the Bulldogs. In 59 games with Hamilton, the 6-1, 202-pound defenceman recorded 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and 36 penalty minutes. In 132 career AHL regular season games with the Bulldogs, the Ellerslie, P.E.I. native has recorded 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and 100 penalty minutes. Ellis was selected by the Canadiens in the fourth round (117th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The Bulldogs return to action tonight when they’ll host the Adirondack Flames at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
