BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and the Montreal Canadiens, announce today that Canadian Interuniversity Sport standout Jesse Stoughton has been signed to a Standard Player Contract and will suit up for his first professional game tonight as the Beast host the Elmira Jackals.
For the last five seasons, the 24-year-old center has been a mainstay in the CIS playing for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks. The Bobcaygeon, Ontario native, recorded 46 goals, 28 assists and 84 points in 100 games played in his CIS career.
Prior to playing university hockey, Stoughton had an impressive junior career for the Ontario Hockey League’s Sarnia Sting from 2008 to 2011. In 150 games spread over three seasons, the young gun chalked up 19 career goals and 33 assists to record a total of 52 points.
