BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today the signing of former Niagara University defenseman Matt Chiarantano.
The 24-year-old Caledon, Ontario native spent the last four seasons in the NCAA with Niagara University in New York state, where he patrolled the blue line for 75 games between the 2012-13 and 2015-16 seasons.
The 5’9” rearguard is considered to be a solid player at both ends of the ice and recorded four goals and 15 assists with 32 penalty minutes throughout his NCAA career.
He will be wearing jersey number 74 for the Beast and is expected to make his professional debut this evening as the Beast take on the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:15 PM.
