Catching the Torch – Bozon is Brilliant

1

By Robert Rice, Senior Writer, All Habs Hockey Magazine

TORONTO, ON — This week in review ( October 15-21) there is a mile wide gap between the first star and the rest of the pack. We salute a brilliant week by Tim Bozon.

Don’t forget to vote in All Habs Poll of the Week regarding CHL prospects at the end of the report.  And be sure to leave your comments.

The Three Stars

1. LW Tim Bozon

Tim Bozon has been riding high to start this season with the Kamloops Blazers and this past week has been his best yet with an 8-point performance.  Bozon began his week scoring a pair of goals in a 4-0 victory over the Red Deer Rebels, than collected an assist the following night in a 5-4 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Bozon took it a step further over the weekend when he opened the scoring on Friday night with a goal and assist, in an eventual 5-4 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Bozon finished the week with a pair of goals and an assist in a 6-3 victory over the Kootenay Ice, helping to secure Kamloops streak of being undefeated in regulation over 13 contests. Bozon is currently 3rd overall in the Western Hockey League in scoring with 11 goals and 10 assists and is tied for 2nd overall in goal scoring in the league. Bozon was drafted in the 3rd round, 64th overall in the 2012 Draft.

2. C Brady Vail

While it was not expected for Brady Vail to be a leading source of offence in the Ontario Hockey League this season, the Windsor Spitfires will certainly not complain. Vail began his week with an assist on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win for Windsor over Erie on Thursday night. Vail would next be the only goal scorer for Windsor on Friday in a 4-1 loss to Brampton. Vail would add one more assist on Saturday in an eventual 3-2 win for Windsor over Erie and extending his points streak to 6 straight games. Vail has the longest active points streak among the Habs prospects this season, with 2 goals, 5 assists in his current streak and is 13th overall in OHL scoring. Vail was drafted in the 4th round, 94th overall in the 2012 Draft.

3. RW Patrick Holland

For a prospect once thought a throw-in for the Mike Cammalleri trade, Holland’s excellent final year of junior hockey and a solid camp has now earned him a top-6 spot with the Hamilton Bulldogs. Holland would score his first pro goal, the game-winner no less, and an assist in a 4-1 victory for the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night. Holland like the rest of the Hamilton team, would go pointless in their following blowout loss on Saturday night in a 5-0 defeat. Holland was drafted in the 7th round, 193rd overall in the 2010 Draft.

  1. Of all the CHL kids, hrower will bring what no other prospect does and that is nastiness, Tinordi may bring some toughness, Thrower’s play for defending teammates is unmatcheed and something that has been missing (from a regular shift player with skill).

But am a big fan of Bozon, who numbers may be a bit out of whack due to the other 3 top Blazer’s all being just as hot (similar to Holland last year)
But he seems a goal scorer and he has decet size, which is nice for a change.
