The Three Stars of the Week

1. D Jarred Tinordi

Tinordi makes a rather surprising, but welcome debut as one of the Three Stars as he collected three points over a three game in three days schedule with the London Knights. Tinordi began his weekend by picking up an assist on Friday night as the Knights took a 3-0 decision over the Owen Sound Attack. Tinordi would score his first goal of the season in rather dramatic fashion on Saturday in a rematch with Owen Sound, scoring the game-tying goal to force overtime for London and an eventual shootout win. Tinordi would pick up another assist on Sunday in a 3-2 victory over the Erie Otters, with the Knights sweeping the weekend and maintaining 1st overall status in the OHL. This was Tinordi’s first three-game point streak of his OHL career and is now set to double his previous-season points production. Tinordi is also a team-best +26 amongst defencemen. Tinordi was drafted in the 1st round, 22nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2010 Entry Draft.

2. D Darren Dietz

Dietz has after a notable cold streak, resurged in defensive scoring to match his previous season scoring mark while collecting three points over three games with the Saskatoon Blades. Dietz would an assist on Wednesday as the Blades suffered a 6-4 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Dietz would add another assist on Friday in a 3-2 win for the Blades, which tied his previous-season mark of 19 assists, but in 21 fewer games. Dietz would than add an assist to tie his overall scoring totals from the previous season in a wild 9-6 victory over the Victoria Royals on Saturday. Dietz is currently on a five game point streak of six assists and has a point per game average over his last eight games. Dietz was drafted in the 5th round, 138th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 Entry Draft.

3. D Morgan Ellis

Ellis continues to be an offensive revelation since his trade to the Shawinigan Cataractes. Ellis added three more assists to a notable scoring total of four goals, eight assists in eight games since being traded to Shawinigan from Cape Breton. Ellis would pick up two assists in a 5-1 victory over the Quebec Ramparts on Friday night. Ellis would collect another assist on Saturday in a 4-2 loss to the Gatineau Olympiques. Ellis’s three assists also saw him break his previous-season scoring mark of 36 points, as he reached 37 points on Saturday while playing 23 fewer games compared to last season. Ellis leads the Cataractes in defensive scoring and is 5th overall in scoring by defencemen in the QMJHL. Ellis was drafted in the 4th round, 117th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2010 Entry Draft.

  • C Michaël Bournival scored two goals to increase his season totals to 21 goals in 22 games.
  • RW Patrick Holland scored two goals and two assists.
  • RW Danny Kristo picked up two assists.

  1. Who was the guy who was in the summer camp for the Habs and previously lead the Q in scoring? Not Dumont but another guy… I guess he’s not doing well if he’s not on the list?

    • Are you talking about Etienne Brodeur? He went unsigned and isn’t having the same success in the QMJHL this season. There’s also Dany Masse with HAM, 8G, 6A this season with HAM but I haven’t seen much to indicate he’s a real pro prospect.
