Game 3 in the series took place Monday night, and it was certainly not the start to the road trip that the Beast were looking for. In the first 14 minutes of the game, Manchester scored three goals (two even strength and one on the power play) to put a wide 3-0 gap between them and the visiting Beast. The goal on the man advantage was on a high sticking penalty taken by Luke Pither – the only penalty handed out in the first period. In the second period, tensions ramped up very quickly with minor penalties for boarding, slashing, roughing coming down left and right. Daniel Ciampini managed put another puck past Zach Fucale to increase the Manchester lead to 4-0. The Beast would have work to do in the final frame. Brampton did come out firing shots in the third period, outshooting the Monarchs 13-5. But things got out of control when a couple of different fights broke out, resulting in both Mike Folkes and Mathieu Gagnon earning game misconducts. In the end, the Beast couldn’t solve netminder Sam Brittain and found themselves shut out and trailing 2-1 in the series. Both teams get right back at it tomorrow night, where the Beast will look to even the series once again and bounce back from a disappointing night. ▲ ▼ Mathieu Gagnon, Mike Folkes, David Pacan |
