Game Report

After getting blanked on the previous night, the Brampton Beast needed to come out firing on all cylinders in Game 4 against the Manchester Monarchs to take control of the game from the start and even the series up at 2-2.  Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go according to plan.

The Monarchs potted two power play goals in the opening period, which registered eight total penalties to the two teams collectively.  Another goal on the man advantage in the second period put Manchester up 3-0 and tallied seven consecutive periods that the Beast had gone without scoring a goal.  Something needed to give.

Finally, in the third period, Luc Olivier-Blain broke the goal drought with his first of the postseason, assisted by Chris Auger and Reggie Traccitto.  But Manchester swarmed back and amassed three more goals, including two empty-netters (one of which was scored shorthanded).

On the positive side, Zach Fucale did make some spectacular saves at times during the night, and Brampton remained disciplined in the final frame with no penalties called on the Beast.  Connor Crisp and Willie Corrin both had multiple shots on goal in the game, some of which came very close to going in.

Tomorrow night the teams meet for one last time in Manchester, where Brampton will face elimination from the series. They’ll need to muster every ounce of determination to face adversity, win the game, and take the series home to Ontario.
