ST JOHN’S, NL. — This week, the St. John’s IceCaps will host the Springfield Thunderbirds at Mile One Centre for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. The weekend contests will be the final two games of an eight-game homestand for the IceCaps.

St. John’s IceCaps
  • Last week the IceCaps played four games against the Syracuse Crunch and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, resulting in a loss of 2-6 to the Crunch on the 29th, following up with a win for the IceCaps of 3-2 in a shootout the next night. The IceCaps then faced the Penguins on December third and fourth, resulting in a loss of 2-6 for the IceCaps on the third, following it with an overtime win of 3-2 on Sunday night. The IceCaps continue to hold their spot at fourth in the North Division following close behind their rivals the Toronto Marlies, and hold the top spot in the division for the power-play.
Players to Watch
  • Chris Terry – Terry is one of the IceCap’s top players with eight goals and 11 assists in 16 games played.
  • Daniel Audette – Rookie Daniel Audette holds the top spot in the league for shootout goals.
Notes Goaltenders
Sven Andrighetto is heating up, tallying four points in two games over the weekend. Andrighetto now leads the IceCaps with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists.

Friday and Saturday December 9th, 10th

Springfield Thunderbirds
The Springfield Thunderbirds (8-8-3-2) will be in St. John’s to face the IceCaps for two games this weekend. The Thunderbirds defeated the IceCaps in two previous games played in October and November, and hold the sixth spot in the Atlantic division.
Players to Watch
  • Josh Brown – Brown is the second defenseman shooting percentage leader with 18.2%.
  • Paul Thompson – Thompson leads the team with 15 points in 20 games played.
Notes Goaltenders
Thunderbirds winger Tim Bozon will return to St. John’s. Bozon was traded to the Panthers organization for defenceman Jonathan Racine in October.
