MONTREAL, QC.— All three Montreal Canadiens’ prospects represented at Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp were on the losing end of a 4-1 score in the first intrasquad game Sunday night, at Toronto’s MasterCard Centre.
Marcus Foligno opened the mark for the Reds at the 42-second mark of the second frame and Carter Ashton made it 2-0 before Louis Leblanc got Team White on the board to start the third. Nashville prospect Ryan Ellis and fourth overall selection Ryan Johansen of the Blue Jackets recorded assists on the play.
But that was all she wrote for Team White, as Jaden Schwartz restored Team Red’s two-goal lead and Foligno scored his second of the game on a breakaway to close out regulation.
The two teams headed to a shootout round, where four out of nine skaters scored for each side. Among these was Canadiens’ acquisition Michaël Bournival.
The National Junior Team Selection Camp continues into the week, concluding this upcoming Wednesday, December 15th when the final squad will be named. The next Red-White game is scheduled to take place Monday night, with a combined roster competing against the Canadian University National Team on Tuesday night.
