CALGARY, AB – Future Considerations Hockey today announced Julius Honka of the Swift Current Broncos as the Franchise Hockey Manager draft eligible Defenseman of the Month for November.
Honka, a product of Jyaskyla, Finland continues to impress in his rookie season in the Western Hockey League. The 18-year-old had six goals, 15 points and was a plus-8 in 13 games for the Broncos in November, capped by back-to-back three-point games near the middle of the month.
“He is continuing to his strong play from early in the year,” Future Considerations’ WHL head scout Zenon Herasymiuk said. “Honka is beginning to command respect from opponents because of his slick playmaking and skating abilities. He is one of the most dynamic and talented defenseman in the draft class.”
Honka, who was also named top defenseman in October, currently sits 29th in Future Considerations’ December ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft.
Also considered for the award was Anthony DeAngelo of the Sarnia Sting. DeAngelo, who was named October’s draft eligible Defenseman of the Month, had three goals and 16 points in 12 games played.
