Facing the same Rochester Americans as the night before, the Senators were looking to avenge that 4-2 loss and split the two-game set with Rochester. They got off to a promising start. Thomas Chabot got the Senators on the board just over six minutes into the frame, burying a one-time blast off a feed from Colin White to make it 1-0. But the Americans struck back in the frame. Steve Moses went five-hole on Andrew Hammond to equalize. Then it was Sahir Gill who scored a strange one, jamming home a rebound off a Kevin Porter shot that hit the post. After 20 minutes, Rochester led 2-1 The second period did not get off to a good start for the Senators. After Erik Burgdoerfer took a tripping penalty in the Rochester zone, the Amerks made him pay. It was Gill scoring his second of the night on the man advantage to double the Americans lead. The Senators struck back when Max McCormick tipped home a Jordan Murray point shot past Adam Wilcox, but less than three minutes later Dalton Smith put a harmless looking shot on net and fooled Hammond, restoring the Amerks two-goal lead. At the end of two periods, Belleville trailed 4-2. But the third period is where it all turned around for Belleville. Just over two minutes into the frame, Murray scored one from a sharp angle to make it 4-3. The Senators did not stop there, Francis Perron scored one to tie it up 4-4. After trailing for most of the game, the Senators came back and forced overtime. In the overtime period, the teams exchanged chances. After a huge play from Hammond, playing the puck up the ice to negate a Rochester scoring chance, Perron floated the puck towards the Amerks net. Murray got a piece of it, fooling Wilcox to win the game. The Senators came back with a great effort in the third period and took this one from the Amerks, winning 5-4 in overtime. Belleville gets back to work Wednesday when they wrap up their home-stand against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. ▲ Jordan Murray, Thomas Chabot, Francis Perron, Macoy Erkamps ▼ |
