Game Report

The most memorable moments of the night both came from Bud Holloway: a desperation skate save in the dying minutes of the game with the IceCaps net empty and a kiss that he planted on the helmet of linemate Charles Hudon when the Kiss Cam featured the duo on the score clock during a stoppage of play.

It was that kind of night.

The Senators took advantage of an IceCaps team who got into Binghamton in the wee hours of the morning. The BSens came out of the gate strong scoring just 1:20 into the opening frame. The Senators went up by two on their first power-play of the game seven minutes into the game.

To say the game was physical is putting it mildly. Chippy play, scrums after whistles, and multiple scraps between Stefan Fournier and Guillaume Lepine. Finally, late in the second period, the IceCaps began to show some life after Sven Andrighetto and Fournier each potted a goal.

The momentum had seemingly swung in the visiting team’s direction, but they couldn’t fully surmount a comeback to tie the game. Zach Fucale held off the Binghamton offense through the final horn, but the Senators were able to edge out the IceCaps 3-2.

The IceCaps will start the new year and complete their road trip on Saturday when they meet the Utica Comets.

Coach Sylvain Lefebvre

  • “They work hard, especially in their building, you know, they’re tough to play against. They’re big, they’re strong, they forecheck hard, they protect the puck well.”
  • “I thought that we showed some character to at least put ourselves in a situation where we have ourselves a chance to win.”
  • “I like his game. [Sven Andrighetto] showed some speed and showed some aggressiveness on the forecheck.”
