The Senators were looking to avenge the 4-2 loss from the previous night in the fourth and final meeting between these two teams this season. Just like in game one of the two-game set, the Senators got off to a great start. Just over four minutes into the game, Max Reinhart redirected an Ethan Werek pass over the shoulder of Jeremy Smith to make it 1-0. Belleville had their chances to add to their lead, notably a Colin White breakaway off a beautiful dish from Francis Perron, but they did not make good. After some solid saves from Chris Driedger, Roland McKeown beat him in the dying minutes of the period to tie it up 1-1. The second period brought more of the same. Belleville scored early in the frame, this time a beautiful shot short-side from Daniel Ciampini to restore the Senators lead. Jim O’Brien also scored in the frame with a beautiful deke to the backhand in tight to make it 3-1 Belleville. But just like the first period, Charlotte scored one late. Mike Ferrantino went top shelf on Driedger from a sharp angle to make it 3-2. In the third period, the Senators bounced back after allowing the Ferrantino goal late in the second. Reinhart scored his second of the night off another feed from Werek to make it 4-2. Max McCormick added an empty-netter to seal the deal. The Senators bounced back to take the second game in the back-to-back with the Checkers. They were in control of the game from start to finish and Driedger was solid between the pipes when he was called upon. Belleville has some time off before they get back to work. They open a two-game set in Toronto Saturday afternoon to face the Marlies before returning home to host the Laval Rocket next week. ▲ Ethan Werek, Max Reinhart, Max McCormick, Andreas Englund, Chris Driedger ▼ |
