The Senators were coming off a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Manitoba Moose. The task at hand did not get much easier, visiting the always tough Crunch. The Senators got off to a rocky start. Just under two minutes into the action, Mathieu Joseph floated a shot towards Marcus Hogberg from the right circle. Anthony Cirelli got the deflection in front to make it 1-0. Later in the frame, Jonne Tammela found himself wide open in the slot after a feed from Mat Bodie. He made no mistake, doubling the Crunch lead. After 20, Syracuse led 2-0. In the second period, the Crunch added to their lead with another early period goal. It was Olivier Archambault scoring to extend the Syracuse lead to three goals. The teams exchanged power play opportunities throughout the remainder of the second period, but neither team found the back of the net. After two periods, the Crunch led 3-0. In the third period, the Senators made it interesting thanks to a pair of goals from Erik Burgdoerfer, but it was not enough to get Belleville back in the game. Syracuse scored twice in the frame, with a goal from Ben Thomas and an empty-netter from Mitchell Stephens to put the game away. The Senators lost this one 5-2. Their poor discipline cost them and they did not play very well in the first two periods. Belleville gets right back to work tomorrow night when they return home to host the Rochester Americans. ▲ Erik Burgdoerfer ▼ Mike Blunden, Max McCormick, Ben Harpur |
