The Senators were looking to build off of their first win of the season against Hershey last weekend. The first period had a great pace which saw the two teams exchange chances. It did not take long for the Senators to find the back of the net, Jack Rodewald banged a rebound past Chris Nell for his second of the season less than five minutes into the action to make it 1-0. However, the score was quickly evened when Cole Schneider beat Danny Taylor after some good work behind the Senators net from Filip Chytil. But after a great save from Taylor, Gabriel Gagne redirected an Andreas Englund shot to restore the Belleville lead. After 20 minutes, the Senators led 2-1. The second period was a little less frantic than the first. But the Senators continued to create chances and after a Nell tripping infraction, they found themselves on the power play. Just 13 seconds into the man advantage, Francis Perron set up Christian Jaros and Belleville extended their lead to 3-1. That was the score after 40 minutes of play. The third period brought more of the same from the Senators. Just under eight minutes into the frame, Max Reinhart was sprung on a partial break after some great pressure from Daniel Ciampini caused a turnover in the Wolf Pack zone. Reinhart made no mistake to make it 4-1. Tyler Randell added an empty-netter, off a sweet dish from Perron to seal the deal for the Senators. Belleville was out-shot by Hartford 35-28 but still dominated the Wolf Pack. The Senators will have little time to celebrate with a match-up against the Providence Bruins slated for Saturday night. ▲ Francis Perron, Christian Jaros, Max Reinhart, Danny Taylor, Jim O’Brien ▼ |
