Montreal Canadiens Media Release

MONTREAL, QC — The Canadiens cut four more players from training camp on Saturday morning ahead of their preseason finale against the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre.

Forward Michael McCarron and defenseman Jakub Jerabek were both assigned to the AHL’s Laval Rocket, while forwards Daniel Carr and Peter Holland were put on waivers. If Carr and Holland aren’t claimed, they will both report to the Rocket as well.

Last season, McCarron, 22, split time between the NHL and the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps. In 31 games with the Canadiens in 2016-17, McCarron registered five points, including one goal, and amassed 41 penalty minutes.

Jerabek, meanwhile, is just starting out in North America after spending the first few years of his career in Europe, first in his native Czech Republic and then with Vityaz Podolsk of the KHL. The 26-year-old rearguard amassed 34 points in 59 games with the Russian squad.

Carr, 26, played 33 games with the Canadiens last season, collecting two goals and picking up seven assists.

For his part, Holland signed a contract with the Canadiens shortly after the unrestricted free agent market opened last summer. The 26-year-old forward is a former first-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2009 – going 15th overall – and boasts 243 games of NHL experience on his resume with the Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes. He has 35 career goals and 81 points.
