McCarron and Ellis recalled
MONTREAL, QC — The Canadiens recalled forward Michael McCarron and defenseman Morgan Ellisfrom the IceCaps following the team’s game against the Utica Comets on Friday night. The two will join the Habs in Montreal on Saturday.
A 2013 first-round pick, McCarron currently sits third on the IceCaps with 15 goals and 34 points in 53 AHL games. He previously suited up for two games with the Canadiens earlier this season, where he racked up four penalty minutes and finished with a minus-1 differential.
This is Ellis’ first NHL recall since the 23-year-old was drafted by Montreal in the fourth round in 2010. The shifty blue-liner has 12 goals in 55 games with St. John’s this year, the second-most of any AHL defenseman in 2015-16. He’s also chipped in with 18 assists, giving him 30 points on the season to date.
