The Specs
Defensive defenseman who has quietly made his mark on just about every team he’s played. Played his entire QMJHL career with the Drummondville Voltigeurs before playing in the CIS, ECHL, AHL, and soon-to-be NHL. Has already three goals with the Hamilton Bulldogs thus far this season; his total last year in 76 games was five.
The Skinny
The number 62 is probably no fluke, as he models his game after a certain number 26 on the Canadiens. He probably prefers not to hear his name in a game, as that is when he is most effective.
What you’ve probably heard by now
Probably not enough. Hence this bio.
What you may not know
He’s been around longer than you think. After the 2005-06 season, St-Denis was offered a tryout with the Canadiens who, at the time of that year’s training camp, suffered an alarming amount of injuries on the rearguard front. After acquiring other defensemen who could fill in temporarily in Hamilton, the best the Canadiens could do was offer St-Denis an ECHL deal. He elected to play his overage year in Drummondville instead.
The same thing would happen the following year, but this time the Minnesota Wild were the ones to offer him a look. St-Denis decided to play a year for the Patriotes (Universite de Quebec a Trois-Rivieres) in the CIS, where he led all Trois Rivieres defencemen in points and assists.
