MONTREAL, QC–With 2:22 remaining in the game, Montreal Canadiens’ second-rounder Jacob de la Rose was the one to procure Team Sweden a victory over Team Russia by the final score of 3-2.

What started as a defensive game broke out when Sweden was awarded a power play. Sebastian Collberg set up a play that would result in Andreas Johnson‘s opening tally.  Russia’s penalty trouble continued, and eventually Nick Sorensen doubled the Swedish advantage.jacob_de_la_rose

The tides later turned, and the Swedes found themselves in the box. Russia would capitalize on two opportunities, in the second and third periods respectively, to reset the score.

But De la Rose extinguished their hopes to be the first team to beat the host nation with his late tip-in goal.

The Swedes, who finish at the top of Group B, now face Slovakia on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. EST.
