Game Report

In Game 4 between the Brampton Beast and Reading Royals, the gameplay was a repeat of many previous meetings of the two teams: low-scoring and tightly played.

In the first period, Reading got on the scoreboard first with a goal scored with just about two minutes remaining in the frame and outshot the home team 15-8.  Penalty killers on both sides of the ice did their jobs as a high-sticking minor by Connor Crisp and a slashing minor by Olivier Labelle went unrewarded on the respective power play opportunities.

The Beast equalized the score more than halfway through the second period when Jordan Henry wired home his second goal of the postseason, assisted by David Pacan and Brandon Marino.  They continued to put the pressure on Reading as it was their turn to outshoot the visitors in the period, 18-7.

The Royals regained their one-goal lead within the first 60 seconds of the final period, however, to force Brampton to chase them once again.  Henry helped to even the score just a few minutes later with a feed to Brandon MacLean who redirected the shot past Mark Dekanich to make it 2-2.  Luke Pither earned the secondary assist on the goal.

Reading wasn’t finished with the puck, yet, as they finally potted a power play goal on a slashing minor by Crisp to go up 3-2 with just under four minutes left in the game.  Despite some outstanding saves by Zach Fucale to keep the Beast within one, Dekanich also kept the puck out of his net as the clock ticked down to zero.

Brampton dropped this game 3-2, allowing Reading to tie the series at 2-2.  The Beast get one more game at home on Saturday night where they’ll look to take the lead in this best-of-seven again before heading back to Reading on Monday.
