MONTREAL, QC–An inspired performance by Canadiens’ prospect and Team Canada netminder Zach Fucale led to a 3-2 victory over the Americans in what was arguably the most convincing performance by the boys in red thus far.
Fucale was even awarded his own chant, on the part of both the fans and his teammates. He finished the night with 24 saves.
Connor McDavid scored his first goal of the tournament and a power-play marker for Nic Petan would prove to be the insurance goal for the Canadians, who finished their preliminary contests at the top of Group A and now face Switzerland on Thursday at 11 a.m. EST.
