Tuesday, January 7th, 2014– The Baie-Comeau Drakkar announces the acquisition of 19 year old forward Charles Hudon from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and a 3rd-round selection in 2014 in exchange for three first-round selections (2015, 2016 and 2017).

Charles Hudon returns from the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships and enthusiastically joins the Drakkar, set to complete his junior career on the right foot.

“We are very happy to have acquired Charles. His talent, his determination and desire to win are the elements that brought us to add him to our roster for the final part of the season,” said Steve Ahern.

Charles Hudon will join the team in the coming days and head coach Éric Veilleux will then decide when the forward will integrate himself into the lineup.

The Alma native, a fifth-round selection of the Montreal Canadiens last spring (122nd overall), has 238 points in 211 games in three and a half seasons in the QMJHL.

In particular, he has scored 92 goals, 22 of which came on the man advantage, in his junior career thus far.CharlesHudon

Last season was his best as he accumulated 71 points, including 30 goals in 56 games with the Saguenéens.

His playoff record includes 24 points in 28 games played.

The 5’11”,  178-pound forward has 9 goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 24 career games played against the Drakkar.

The newest member of the Drakkar will wear jersey number 55.

In addition,  the Drakkar congratulates Valentin Zykov for having contributed to Russia’s bronze medal at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Malmo, Sweden.  Valentin Zykov will be back in Baie-Comeau in the coming days.
