TORONTO, ON — This week in review (January 14th – 20th), top honours belong to a Montreal Canadiens prospect some called “a steal” in the 2012 draft.

The Three Stars
1. RW Sebastian Collberg
After a limited role with Frölunda to start the season, Sebastian Collberg stepped forward this past week to be the difference where it mattered most. Collberg would score the game-winning shootout goal for Frölunda in a 4-3 victory over Timrå. Under Elitserien rules, game-winning shootout goals count on a player’s goal totals so it was also Collberg’s 1st goal in the Elitserien. Collberg would double up his production in the following game, scoring on a penalty shot opportunity and than later on, marking the lone shootout goal for Frölunda over Linköpings in a 4-3 win. Collberg was drafted in the 2nd round, 33rd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.

2. D Magnus Nygren
Magnus Nygren is proving to have one of the most dangerous shots in the Elitserien this season. While Nygren would go pointless in a 3-1 win over Linköpings, he would soon make a step ahead of his fellow Elitserien defenders. Nygren would score his 8th and 9th goals of the season in a 5-1 win for Färjestads over Rögle this past week. Nygren’s 9 goals make him the goal scoring leader amongst Elitserien defencemen and 5th overall in defensive scoring. Nygren was drafted in the 4th round, 113th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 NHL Draft.
3. C Michaël Bournival
While he only got one game under his belt this week, Michaël Bournival made the most of it. Stepping back into the Hamilton Bulldogs after a brief stint at the Montreal Canadiens brief training camp, Bournival would score his 1st goal in over a month and would add an assist to his totals, giving Hamilton 1-0 and 2-1 leads but the effort would be soured in an eventual shootout loss to the Toronto Marlies. Bournival was drafted in the 3rd round, 71st overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2010 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens acquired him in exchange for Ryan O’Byrne.

– LW Tim Bozon scored a goal and assist.

– D Mac Bennett is out with a lower-body injury.
– LW Blake Geoffrion is out indefinitely while recovering from a depressed skull fracture.
– RW Louis Leblanc has 1 point in his last 18 games.
– C Joonas Nättinen has had shoulder surgery and is out indefinitely.
– RW Aaron Palushaj is out with a shoulder injury.
– D Greg Pateryn is out indefinitely with a fractured elbow.

The AHL Report: The Hamilton Bulldogs have been the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens since 2002. It is the most common route for developing Montreal Canadiens prospects into full-time members of the organization. There are currently 13 members of the Hamilton Bulldogs that can be thought to have future consideration for an NHL position. The Hamilton Bulldogs are 13-20-1-5 this season, 5th in the North Division, 30th overall in the AHL.
